History of Ambulance Transportation

Ambulance transportation has drastically changed over the years. From the early days of horse drawn wagons (pictured at top right) they have evolved through the steam powered days (pictured right) and continued into the late 70's as the combination hearse/ambulance vehicles built on Packard, Cadillac and Lincoln chassis. (lower right and left) Often these "ambulances" had no medical equipment or trained personnel. They relied on the huge motors, emergency lights and sirens to get the patient to medical treatment as quickly as possible.

Modern ambulances like the one pictured below carry the latest, state of the art, equipment to treat any emergency encountered. They are staffed with highly trained medical personnel that are able to give pre-hospital care that a short time ago was only available in the emergency room. West Georgia Ambulance is proud to serve the Citizens of Carroll County and the surrounding area. We offer the finest in emergent care and transportation to our patients and their famlies.
